Canada versus Chile might have been the most Chilean game of football that has been played since the 2016 Copa America final. After conceding early, they found themselves down to 9 men after two red cards. Yet, they continued to fight and battle it out against the home team keeping a clean sheet from then on.
From a Chilean perspective, it was a hard fought game that made up for their red cards. Very similar to past Copa America wins where they held strong and were able to make it to the end.
For Canada, it was another lacklustre home performance where they failed to capitalize on goal scoring opportunities. It is crazy to think with all the stardom up front they weren’t able to find the net. Players like Promise David and Cyle Larin couldn’t find the net against the Chileans.
Although all the negatives surrounding the game against Chile, it is still a home win for the reds. Before the world cup Canada failed to beat Iceland, Tunisia and Ecuador at home, so this result is still good for the squad.
Moving forward, the Canadian fans are looking for more goals, more excitement, and for more players showing their flair and skills on the pitch.
